Trade disruptions, shifting alliances and global instability reshape the flow of goods and the dynamics of maritime business. To stay competitive, it is not enough for companies to adapt to these changes – they also need to leverage them as catalysts for innovation and resilience.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Associate Professor Martin Jes Iversen from Copenhagen Business School <span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Aptos; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi; mso-ansi-language: DA; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">will present on a fundamental paradox in the maritime sector: how obstacles and delays for customers often translate into higher earnings for shipping companies. Through historical examples, he will illustrate how geopolitical disruptions can simultaneously create challenges and opportunities, and why aligning customer needs with company profitability is crucial for long-term success.</span></p>
<p>William Eduard, Director of ESG Advisory Services and shipping industry advisor at KPMG, will address how companies and leaders should navigate ESG and approach both value protection and value creation in managing its growing complexity and scrutiny. He will also show how tools can be applied to optimise business performance in a shifting trade reality marked by geopolitical uncertainty and changing trade patterns.</p>

Meet the speakers

<p>Jan Lemnitzer is Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity at the Department of Digitalisation. His research focuses on business cybersecurity and cybersecurity regulation (especially the NIS 2 Directive and its implementation). Since 2023, Jan is PI of the research project ‘Cyber Security of Supply Chains: Creating Actionable Guidance for Danish SMEs’ funded by the Danish Industry Foundation and has developed the SUCCESS tool for easy supply chain cyber risk management. Jan is a sought-after keynote speaker at industry events and a regular contributor to Danish and German news media and TV.</p>

<p>Joen Magieres is a senior political consultant in the Danish Chamber of Commerce and is responsible for their cyber security agenda. Joen is in contact with companies from all sectors, with Danish and EU politicians and institutions, with experts and many other stakeholders within the areas of cyber security and digitalisation in general.</p>
