Why did you choose the Copenhagen MBA?
There are so many reasons why I chose the Copenhagen MBA. Coming from Canada, I knew that I wanted to go study in Europe – it’s been a long-time dream of mine. I started looking into MBA programs and the Copenhagen MBA caught my attention for a few reasons. First the diversity of my fellow classmates was definitely a plus! I wanted to be able to connect and learn from people that come from all over the word and have very different professional backgrounds and different career aspirations. It makes for really interesting class discussions, and we all help each other out since our strengths and weaknesses complement one another’s. The Copenhagen MBA also boasts a nearly 50/50 gender split which was important to me. I was also taken by the prospect of completing an internship as part of the program where I would gain experience working in a Danish company even before graduating. The Copenhagen MBA also has four very interesting concentrations to choose from, which made it hard to choose just one to complete (but in the end – the entrepreneurship concentration won me over!). Lastly, Copenhagen is such a beautiful city to live in, I’ve loved how bike friendly this city is, so that was a plus!
What have you found challenging about the programme and how have you adapted?
The Copenhagen MBA is a one-year programme, so the sequence of classes can feel intense. My classmates were going through the exact same thing at the same time, so everyone was there to support one another. We leaned on each other for help during the more intense periods.
What does your internship project entail?
I’m interning for a company called Health Tech Hub Copenhagen where I’ll be looking into how Danish health digital tech startups can expand into Canada. It’s an exercise in market access and strategy where I’ll be leveraging my previous experience and all of my learnings from my classes.
What are your post-MBA plans?
It’s still early so I’m still figuring it out, but I do know that I want to work with digital therapeutics in some aspect. It’s a field that is gaining attention and is increasingly at the forefront of discussions especially in a post-pandemic world.
What advice would you give to MBA considerers?
I think it’s really important to assess why you want to do an MBA. As exciting as an MBA is, it’s also tough to take a year from “life” and go back to school and not earn a salary for a whole year. On the other hand, it’s also an amazing experience with so many new things to learn!
