We have made the EMBA a flexible programme so participants can fit the education into their busy lifestyles.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE: A CLOSER LOOK

Commit yourself to 21 or 25 months of highly rigorous studies. Choose your start date and study three terms of general management and one term in depth on a subject of your choice, giving you a holistic view of your organisation and the broad skillset required to take you to the next level.

Choose from start dates in May or September each year and complete the programme as a cohort in two years or via Executive Certificates over two to five years.

Classes will be held at CBS once per month, usually lasting Wednesday to Saturday when in Copenhagen. For international modules, you should plan a full week out of the office.

The CBS EMBA programme has been designed for seasoned professionals who are already in decision-making roles but wish to boost their leadership skills, broaden their general management knowledge, and elevate their strategic thinking. The programme design follows a clear logic. We start with a focus on getting you to understand your organisation, before moving on to examine how to generate growth for your organisation through understanding your market, customers and competitors. Finally we help you to ‘connect the dots’ in understanding how the different business fundamentals knit together, and developing your ability to think strategically and sustainably. Every student will have the opportunity to deep dive into an area of specialization in important areas that are associated with innovation and business growth: Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship, Governance & Sustainability and Finance.

A hallmark of the EMBA is revealed in the ISP because we don’t know upfront where the most important strategic issue actually is. We don't know where it is situated in the organization now. You, as a participant, might have strong ideas and strong feelings about where you think it is, but we insist that it is not guided by your expectations. It is guided by the data.

The different subject areas normally run over several classes, which provides the opportunity for you to put what you have learned in the classroom into practice, and then come back for the next class with the professor with insights into what has worked and what has not. This can then be shared and challenged in classroom discussions by other participants. Following every course there is an assessment, which will be designed in order for you to apply your learnings from the course in relation to your own work place. This brings your learning immediately to life and ensures immediate applicability in a real-life business setting.

The part-time nature of the CBS Executive MBA has been designed for professionals to work towards their MBA degree while remaining in employment. This requires, on average, between 3 to 5 days out of the office each month, or an approximate total of 75 days out of the office over the 2 year programme. This part-time format allows students to immediately implement their learnings into their daily work. Beyond classroom time, EMBA students are expected to complete fairly substantial course work outside the classroom, including pre-readings and assessments. The CBS Executive MBA is a transformational and rewarding experience, but it also requires a whole-hearted commitment of time and energy from students.
